SAMES was established in 1979 to manufacture micro-electronics in the Southern African region.South African Micro-Electronic Systems (Pty) Ltd. designs, manufactures, and markets semiconductors. 

The company offers analogue and mixed signal integrated circuits; customer-specific integrated circuits (CSIC); RFID devices for various market applications, including access control, animal tagging, and asset control; and application software. It also provides foundry solutions; application specific integrated circuit implementation for digital, analog, and mixed-signal designs; standard cell and full custom solutions; software/mathematical modelling and testing; Verilog/VHDL code generation; synthesis; simulation and functional verification; scan and partial scan insertion; production test ...


The ICDC (Integrated Circuit Design Centre) PTY LTD was established shortly thereafter as an integrated circuit design facility to compliment the SAMES operation, while also housing the intellectual property of the SAMES product portfolio.

Despite the eventual de-commissioning of the SAMES manufacturing facility, ICDC still retains the SAMES product line and continues to export most of its products to customers worldwide.

ICDC trades both as a wholly owned company and as a division of SAMES.
