The world's largest supply platform for sources of shortages and hard-to-find parts
Supplier Introduction

Mindspeed Technologies is a leading semiconductor solution provider for wired network infrastructure applications, entering the wireless communications market with a superior base station chip product. The company's new Transcede system-on-chip is integrated into 26 programmable processing units for the first time in a single device, including: 2 ARM Cortex-A9 multi-core symmetrical multi-processing (SMP) RISC processors; 10 CEVA DSPs and 10 DSP accelerators that support the processing requirements required for single and multi-domain base stations to implement full W-CDMA, LTE or WiMAX (layers 1, 2 and above) functions. It is said that a single Transcede device has sufficient processing capabilities while providing three LTE processing domains, allowing manufacturers to add their own value-added features to the overall Transcede chip-based solution.

Since its separation from Conexant Systems in 2003, Mindspeed has been known in the industry for providing DSP-based system-level solutions for carrier-grade VoIP applications. Mindspeed is obviously a master of RISC and DSP technology, but the leap from wired to wireless still requires other technical capabilities. In addition, entering the wireless market will require different marketing concepts. Not only that, it is also a challenge to directly interact with base station DSP vendors such as Freescale (rejuvenating), LSI, TI and other FPGA giants Altera and Xilinx.

Mindspeed is now MACOM. M/A-COM Technology Solutions Holdings, Inc. (www.macomtech.com) is a leading supplier of high performance analog RF, microwave, and millimeter wave products that enable next-generation Internet and modern battlefield applications.
