MaxLinear is a global, New York Stock Exchange-traded company where the entrepreneurial spirit is alive and well. MaxLinear is a fabless system-on-chip product company, designing highly integrated, radio-frequency, and mixed-signal Communications ICs for broadband and infrastructure applications.
MaxLinear was founded in 2003. MaxLinear's headquarters is in Carlsbad, near San Diego, California. The company’s original high performance, radio-frequency receiver products capture and process digital and analog broadband signals for applications including terrestrial, cable and satellite television and DOCSIS broadband. These products include both RF receivers and RF receiver systems-on-chip, or SoCs, which incorporate highly integrated radio system architecture and demodulator technology. The company’s products were based on its pioneering low power, low-cost CMOS process technology.
In 2015, the company acquired Entropic, the world leader in semiconductor solutions for the connected home. Entropic pioneered multimedia over coax (MoCA) home networking technology. The company’s technology transforms how traditional broadcast and IP streaming video is seamlessly, reliably, and securely delivered, processed, and distributed into and throughout the home.
MaxLinear delivers high-performance broadband and networking semiconductors based on its highly integrated radio frequency analog technology, high-performance optical networking technology and its pioneering MoCA and Direct Broadcast Satellite ODU single-wire technology.
MaxLinear began by developing the World’s first high-performance TV tuner chip using standard CMOS process technology. Others said MaxLinear couldn’t achieve the extremely high-performance requirements using CMOS, but MaxLinear proved them wrong and achieved enduring global market leadership with MaxLinear's designs. Since then, we’ve developed a full line of products for satellite communications, cable modems, and terrestrial TV; diversified into high-speed products addressing Datacom applications such as 400 Gbps fiber-optic interconnect chips for high-speed networks; and MoCA technology for home networking.
MaxLinear hires the best people in the world and engages them in some of the most exciting opportunities in MaxLinear's broadband and infrastructure markets. MaxLinear's growth has come from innovative, bold approaches to solving some of the world’s most challenging communication technology problems.
