In a first for the automotive industry, Aptera has confirmed that it will use the Tesla charging connector in its upcoming solar-powered electric vehicle.
And Tesla has opened up the design of charging connectors to other manufacturers around the world, and thus shaped the new generation of North American electric vehicle charging standards; Tesla's TPC has also been renamed NACS.
The reason for opening the charging standard to third-party manufacturers is that Tesla wants all brands of electric vehicles to use its charging connector. "Open charging gun patents to the world and unify charging standards" has been dubbed "Tesla's latest conspiracy" by customer groups.
The basic performance of connectors can be divided into three categories: mechanical performance, electrical performance and environmental performance . Connectors are also called connectors, also known as joints and sockets, and generally refer to electrical connectors, that is, devices that connect two active devices and transmit current or signals.
The charging connector includes: a power connector element with a primary coil connected to a charging power source and a first core, and a vehicle connector element with a secondary coil connected to a battery installed on the vehicle and a second core. The Aptera connector platform provides scalability requirements for future system designs, and the new Aptera connectors; Connected Systems Division (TCS) are also optimized for strict packaging applications without impeding air flow. The Tesla electric vehicle charging connector is equipped with two types of plugs, which are respectively adapted to the national standard 220V single-phase 10A electrical socket and three-phase 16A socket, and the output power is 1.8kW and 5.2kW respectively.
Recently, it has been reported on the Internet that APTERAEV has defeated Tesla, because its new electric vehicle does not need to be charged and is very popular among customers.
1. And Tesla did not give up, and has been working on research to solve the "range anxiety" of not being able to find a charging station. As early as 2016, Tesla has released a new national standard charging adapter, and it is predicted that an automatic connection charger will be launched in the future. To this day, Tesla is still working on a convenient solution to the "charging difficulty" problem.
2. In addition, other giants compete fiercely with Aptera and Tesla. FCI has introduced the card edge connector, which can realize high-speed serial PCI Express signal. As early as 2008, Teradyne also announced the launch of the aptera connector platform, which provides flat interface solutions for servers, storage and network devices.
In 2018, Tesla updated the charging interface standard, CCS standard to improve interface compatibility. In February of this year, the charging speed of Tesla Model 3 on CCS reached 126kW, which is 6kW higher than Tesla's own super charging pile. Analysis of the Tesla charging connector system demonstrated its superiority over the CCS connector.
