AMD says Moore's Law is not dead yet and will remain valid in 6 to 8 years

According to reports, AMD said: Transistor technology still has room for power, and Moore's Law is not dead, but it needs to spend more money to maintain its validity period of 6 to 8 years;  

In the process of maintaining the validity of the law, the cost of CPU 7nm chips will change. High, and Moore's Law has actually slowed down. Earlier, Nvidia's Huang Renxun said: Moore's Law has died due to the increasing price of graphics cards, and GPU will replace CPU. Then AMD quickly came forward to fight back against Huang Renxun: We just upgraded this law, and the fact that the law is not dead is not the reason for the price increase of graphics cards.

At this stage, scientists are finding another way to "continue life" for Moore's Law.  

Now that Moore's Law has slowed down, there is no lack of arguments in the industry that Moore's Law is coming to an end. It is far from enough to simply hope for the improvement of computing power.

 

 

· Moore's Law is the experience of Gordon Moore, one of the founders of Intel.  

 

Its core content is that the number of transistors that can be accommodated on an integrated circuit will double approximately every 18 to 24 months. Intel is still defending the "Moore's Law" that has led the development of the semiconductor industry for 60 years, and has demonstrated a new 3D packaging technology with a 10-fold increase in interconnect density and a 3-atom-thick 2D new material , only to create a Trillion-transistor monolithic paving the way. Intel has also recently tried to recast its former glory, that is, the 20A and 18A process targets; it is expected that Meteor Lake will not be delayed in 2024. At the same time, a new Intel CEO with a strong technical background took office. He is a loyal supporter of "Moore's Law" and believes that the foundry business has great potential.

· It is reported that in July this year, the chip not only saved AMD, but also is expected to continue Moore's Law and avoid the energy crisis.  

 

AMD has arranged to fully introduce 3D Chiplet technology, which shows that the gospel of game players is coming. With AMD revealing the next-generation architecture (the world's first 5nm PC chip), the chiplet technology track will fully open the "core technology". The chiplet concept has become the "new darling" of the market, and giants such as AMD and Intel have entered the market, bringing many new opportunities. Chiplets are on the cusp of the storm, some companies are frantically pouring in, and some companies have drawn a clear line. Does the future of AMD belong to Chiplets? Obviously, Chiplet has infinite possibilities waiting to be discovered.

 

 

In 2007, Moore's Law was radiating new life under the background of the era, where challenges  and opportunities coexisted. In 2013, AMD's transition to 20nm was slow, and Moore's Law was accused of coming to an end. In 2016, AMD was revealed to have fought to the death with Intel, but they all believed that Moore's Theorem was not dead.
