Qorvo Recently Announced Industry's Smallest Cellular IoT Low Voltage Transmitter Module

Qorvo recently announced the launch of the latest product in its growing cellular Internet of Things (C-IoT) transmit module product portfolio, the QM55011.

Qorvo® (Nasdaq: QRVO), a leading global provider of connectivity and power solutions, recently announced the latest addition to its growing portfolio of cellular Internet of Things (C-IoT) transmit modules, the QM55011. Qorvo's new multi-band multi-mode radio frequency front-end (RFFE) modules are optimized for NB-IoT1/2 and LTE Cat-M1/2 3GPP standards. Its compact 3 mm x 3 mm size, low 2.5V operating voltage, and multi-band support make it ideal for low-voltage applications such as smart meters, asset tracking and monitoring, wearable devices, and smart infrastructure.

Supports expanded NB-IoT and LTE-M standards, provides operating voltages as low as 2.5V, enables a wider range of battery options and eliminates the size and cost impact of boost converters. Its low power consumption extends battery life and is suitable for applications where chargers and mains power are not available. The device is capable of operating at lower voltages in some NB-IoT/LTE-M use cases. In addition, the product supports other over-the-air standards such as Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTN) and Wireless Smart Utility Networks (Wi-SUN).

"Customers bringing the next wave of battery-powered cellular IoT devices to market need to reduce solution size and reduce power consumption," said Tony Testa, general manager of Qorvo's Connected Components business. "The QM55011 meets both requirements with broad support for the full range of cellular frequency."

QM55011 supports low-frequency band (663 to 915 MHz) and mid-frequency band (1695 to 2010 MHz); in addition, the B65 frequency band is added compared to the old product. It includes integrated TX harmonic suppression filters and antenna switches with auxiliary TX/RX paths to support 2G power handling and wide frequency range attachable power amplifiers (PAs). Its band selection and bias are programmable through the Mobile Industry Processor Interface (MIPI).
