The NCL2801 is a member of ON Semiconductor's family of PFC control chips for switching power supply solutions. PFC part of the use of ON Semiconductor NCL2801 products, SOIC-8 package, the peripheral circuit is simple. FB foot for the output voltage sampling signal input, as a feedback signal input at the same time as the output voltage OVP function to protect the MULT foot of the external resistor voltage divider, sampling the input AC voltage, used to determine the range of the input voltage as well as to set up the BO function to protect. In the design process, it is also necessary to pay attention to the value of the external resistor (R10) at the CS pin: R10 is fixed at four levels, respectively 100Ω, 330Ω, 620Ω and 1000Ω.

The size of the value of R10 determines the size of the load changes, the MOS tube switching process of the first fixed jump CTRL foot of the voltage size, the larger the value of R10, the first valley jump when the load is larger. We recommend the use of 100Ω or 330Ω resistors to have a better THD performance while also having a better efficiency performance.

 

For the LLC part, we use ON Semiconductor's NCP13992 in a SOIC-16 package. As a current-type control of the LLC controller, has a fast feedback loop response speed, with excellent dynamic response performance. 

NCP13992 built-in high-voltage start-up pin HV pin, can withstand a maximum start-up voltage of 600V. 

The PFCFB pin has a built-in 1V voltage reference to detect the PFC part of the voltage, which is used to set the startup voltage point of the LLC circuit. The SKIP pin has a built-in 50uA constant-current source, and the external ground resistor generates a voltage that is compared with the FB voltage, which is used to set the load point for the NCP13992 to enter the SKIP mode.

The LLCCS pin has a built-in 4.35V (varies by version) reference, which detects the voltage on the resonant capacitor through external capacitor voltage divider (C15,C25,C26 and R30), and is used to realize the detection of the primary resonant cavity current size and OCP protection.

PFCMODE pin is the voltage output, when the VCC voltage is higher than Vcc_on, PFCMODE will have a stable voltage output (about 12V in normal operation). This voltage can be used to power the VCC pin of the PFC part controller.
