Diodes Automotive Compliant Hall Effect Sensors

Diodes has launched a new portfolio of high-sensitivity Hall effect sensors, the AH39xxQ series.

The powerful AH39xxQ series devices provide accurate speed and direction data or two independent outputs. These sensors are designed for industrial and automotive applications such as detecting rotation and linear speed/direction and determining the angular position of a rotation axis.

Depending on automotive battery requirements, the AH39xxQ series of Hall effect sensors operate over a wide supply voltage range from 2.7V to 27V. They also have a 40V absolute maximum rating, allowing them to safely handle 40V load dumps. Additionally, -18V reverse voltage protection prevents incorrect battery connections. For enhanced robustness, these devices provide electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection that exceeds automotive standards for the 5kV Human Body Model (HBM) and 2kV Charged Device Model (CDM).


Three BOP/BRP options are available, with typical values of 10/-10 Gauss, 25/-25 Gauss and 75/-75 Gauss, while its narrow operating window ensures accurate and reliable switching points. Dual-channel operation means these sensors can replace two latching switches, reducing PCB space and overall component cost. Combining a chopper-stabilized amplifier with an advanced Hall plate design mitigates switch point drift, ensuring accurate measurements over a wide temperature range.


The AH397xQ's self-diagnostic capabilities make it suitable for ISO 26262 compliant systems. For extra assurance, these devices enter a safe operating mode if an error such as overheating or undervoltage lockout is detected.


Diodes' AH39xxQ Series Hall Effect Sensors are AEC-Q100 Class 0 compliant, manufactured in an IATF 16949 certified facility, and support PPAP documentation. They are available in TSOT25 package. The AH396xQ series is priced at $0.40 and the AH397xQ series is priced at $0.44 in quantities of 1,000.
